Mount Scott, Oklahoma

A few more photos from our recent trip to Oklahoma. Within the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge we climbed Mount Scott…. or at least drove up. It’s around 2400 feet tall and the 9th tallest point in the state. It offers panoramic views of the Oklahoma Prairie below The photo doesn’t do justice to howContinue reading “Mount Scott, Oklahoma”

Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge, Oklahoma

Took a trip last weekend North-West of DFW to Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. It’s 60,000 acres of unspoiled prairie land, with over 600 resident buffalo. Apparently due to the amount of rocks beneath the soil surface it was impossible to plough and turn into agricultural land, so it was left in it’sContinue reading “Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge, Oklahoma”

San Xavier del Bac Mission, Arizona

It’s been a while so thought it would be fun to add some more photos from last year’s trip to Arizona. As we drove through Tucson, as well as seeing America’s biggest Cactuses! Also managed to pull over for a quick stop at San Xavier del Bac Mission, one of the oldest structures in Arizona!Continue reading “San Xavier del Bac Mission, Arizona”

Texas Longhorns (Austin), Texas

Had some family come over to visit over the last few weeks so took a brief trip to Austin to get out of town and show them what Texas is all about. One of the main reasons we decided to visit was to watch the University of Texas play a collegiate football game against theContinue reading “Texas Longhorns (Austin), Texas”

A few random photos from the last few years

Thought i’d share some photos i’ve taken over the last few years at a few different places around the USA. There’s not really a theme of the photos just a very random bunch which i thought i’d like to edit.

Downtown Dallas, Texas

It’s been a while since i shared any photos on here so thought i’d add some photos from Dallas earlier this spring. Over the last few years i’ve done a lot more wildlife than street photography, so for a change i’ve edited some images from Downtown.

Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge, Texas

Thought i’d share a few photos from our trip to Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge in December. Going in the winter is one of my favourite times of year, each season has it’s own distinct wildlife at the refuge but during December/January there are usually thousands of Snow Geese which makes an amazing natural spectacle.

Ruby Valley, Nevada

Enjoyed a great week in Nevada last month for Thanksgiving. One of the days we took a trip to Ruby Valley, this is a glacier made Valley around 50 miles from Elko in Northern Nevada. The Valley is around 60 Miles in length and offers some amazing views of the local scenery and wildlife. TheContinue reading “Ruby Valley, Nevada”

San Antonio, Texas

A few more images from visiting San Antonio in May. On reflection i would definitely rank it amongst my favourite cities I’ve visited in America. Aside from the Spanish Missions (here’s my post about those for anyone who’s interested) https://lone-star-lore.com/2021/07/31/spanish-missions-san-antonio-texas/ there is a lot of other stuff to do and visit there. In this postContinue reading “San Antonio, Texas”

Lake Ray Roberts State Park, Texas

Enjoyed a visit to Lake Ray Roberts recently, it’s a massive reservoir around 30 miles North of Dallas. It has two Texas State Park locations attached to it, the one we visited was the Isle du Bois unit on the southern side of the lake. There’s a lot of activities to do there including boating,Continue reading “Lake Ray Roberts State Park, Texas”
