Barcelona V Juventus, Cotton Bowl Stadium Dallas

Went out last night to watch a preseason friendly at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in Dallas between Barcelona & Juventus. It’s the second time i’ve managed to catch a live game of Barca, the first being in April 2018 watching them take on Leganes in La Liga at the Nou Camp. That was one of the best sporting experiences i’ve ever had watching Leo Messi score a hat-trick. Sadly last night was a “Messi-less” Barcelona but over the summer they’ve certainly been active in the transfer window bringing in Lewandowski, Raphinia, Kessie as well as others. Last season was pretty disappointing by their own high standards so will be interesting to see how the team develops since acquiring these new players.

Barcelona have almost completed their tour of the USA. They started playing Inter Miami in Florida, then went to Las Vegas to play Real Madrid. After last night’s game they travel to NYC to play the Red Bulls and then return to Catalonia for the beginning of the season.
Personal highlights for myself was getting to see Sergio Busquets play, when i saw them before annoyingly he was injured and unavailable so was cool to see him out there. The other player i was looking forward to see play live was Angel Di Maria, i think he’s one of the most underrated players around and the goal he scored in the Copa America Final last year will always bring up fond memories.
The games played were part of the Soccer Champions Tour. 2 teams from Liga MX and 3 from Europe (Barca, Juventus, Real Madrid. Considering it’s the middle of summer here and it was 40 Degrees celsius at kick off at 730pm, i was amazed at the pace at which the game was played. I think 2 of the Juve defenders in this image though are struggling a bit though.
The game was played at the Cotton Bowl Stadium, it opened in 1930 and has a capacity of over 92,000. The attendance at the game was around 58,000 which is pretty impressive for a preseason friendly in my opinion.
Took this from the Juventus social media page. Unfortunately Weston McKennie didn’t end up playing which was a shame, but the other USA international Sergino Dest did. Both of those guys if they’re fit i imagine will start against England in the World Cup in November.

Howdy, my name’s Matt. I'm originally from England but now live here in the Great State of Texas. Since moving here I thought it would be fun to try something new and enter the world of photo blogging.
