Lake Ray Roberts State Park, Texas

Enjoyed a visit to Lake Ray Roberts recently, it’s a massive reservoir around 30 miles North of Dallas. It has two Texas State Park locations attached to it, the one we visited was the Isle du Bois unit on the southern side of the lake. There’s a lot of activities to do there including boating, visiting their artificial beach and also hiking. We walked a few of the trails there which were very well maintained and quite easy going.

The main trail we did was the Randy Bell Scenic Trail. It’s around 2.5 miles in length. The whole thing is tarmacked which was quite a pleasant change though. This was on their smaller forest trail. It was nice to go into some woods, living in Dallas hardly ever get chance to see them.

There was a lot of cool wildlife to see here, we saw a few White Tailed Deer. There was also some Downy Woodpeckers and a Mississippi Kite.

Howdy, my name’s Matt. I'm originally from England but now live here in the Great State of Texas. Since moving here I thought it would be fun to try something new and enter the world of photo blogging.
