We recently took a trip East of Dallas to Lake Tawakoni State Park. It’s around 50 miles to the east of DFW and situated in serene countryside surroundings. The lake is named after the Tawakoni Indian people who lived in North Eastern Texas prior to the arrival of Europeans. At the park itself there’s a huge lake ideal for watersports and plenty of trails for hiking. For the fearless adventurers, the park also boasted the largest spiderweb in history situated in their ancient forests. I believe as well that you can get alligators in this park as well, but thankfully managed to give them a wide berth.
